In time for your late summer barbeques and birthday parties, I’m publishing this fun little pattern for citrus coasters.
This pattern was first published in Issue 92 of Let’s Get Crafting magazine back in 2017, so it was high time I published it across all my usual platforms.
The pattern is of course now in my fully-illustrated, detailed, tutorial-style format – not the condensed style you would find in a magazine – making this pattern: 🟩 Easy / Suitable for Advanced Beginners. Read more about how I grade the level of my patterns here.

Make lemon slices, orange slices or lime slices – or a mixture of all three! These citrus coasters are quick to make and so cheerful on your table.
The citrus coaster crochet pattern only requires 13.5m (15 yards) of your main colour and less than 5m (5 yards) of white, so this is a great way to use up leftover yarn from other projects. Choose a robust, easily washable yarn like cotton, bamboo or a recycled fibre for best results.
You can find more ideas on using up small quantities of yarn here: What Can I do with 10m of Yarn?
Worked with a 3.5mm (US E-4) hook and DK (light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn, a finished coaster is approximately 10cm or 4 inches in diameter.
However, using the same pattern and varying your yarn and hook size, you could make everything from a bathroom mat, through hotpads/saucepan separators, to earrings!
As well as the detailed tutorial-style pattern, you will receive a succinct version of the pattern that prints on a single page – ideal for use on the go.
Like all my crochet patterns, the citrus coaster crochet pattern comes with my full support if you have any questions.
