My Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern is easy to work, but can be made with multiple variations for the central contrasting design, so it can be customised to create exactly the look you want.

I designed an early version of this pattern for the Vintage Country Christmas edition of Kindred Stitches magazine in November 2016. (It’s an absolutely gorgeous magazine with so much creative inspiration.) I have now added further variations to the pattern, and of course it is full of handy hints to help you perfect your finished ornaments.
The pattern contains designs for the three ornaments below, but the key to making this crochet project your own is that it includes details of how you can create your own design in the central panel of the ornament.
The designs only use double crochet [US: single crochet] and it’s decrease dc2tog [US: sc2tog]. However, the pattern includes a tutorial on making the ‘invisible’ decrease that can make a real improvement in the look of 3D and amigurumi projects like this one.
The pattern also includes a tutorial on the correct way to change colours to achieve a sharp and seamless result.
As always, UK and US crochet versions of the pattern are available in two completely separate documents so you can choose whichever you prefer to use without having the other getting in the way.
The yarn I’ve used in these examples is Rico Essentials Cotton DK. It’s rather on the fine side for a DK, but comes in a large range of colours. I’ve used ‘Cherry’ and ‘Nature’ for these ornaments.
All my digital crochet patterns, including this Christmas Ornament crochet pattern, can also be ordered printed and gift-boxed, making them ideal small gifts for your crafty friends. Great secret Santa idea or gift for the people in your craft group if you are planning ahead!
