Bargain crochet kit to make two mini pumpkin ornaments in sustainable, eco-friendly materials.
This kit is ideal if you’re buying for yourself rather than as a gift. It is identical in every way to my full-price pumpkin crochet kit, except that:
- It includes a visible knot early in the ball or yarn. Any given standard ball of yarn may contain a join or two in their length, but in this case the join is visible on the outside of the ball and therefore will be encountered early on in your project. This is might be off-putting to a new crocheter, but should be no trouble at all to someone with a little experience. Please see the pictures and ask if you have any questions about this.
- The box is dented. When I receive my boxes from my supplier, they arrive strapped tightly together. This means that the top and bottom few boxes usually have dents in them and I can’t usually use them for my kits. I use them for posting other things, but I still have more than I need. If you are buying a kit just for yourself, this imperfect box has no effect on the quality of the contents. It is also perfectly good enough for you to reuse yourself for posting/storage once you have finished the kit.

The full contents of this crochet kit to make the pair of pumpkins is as follows:
- 15-page fully-illustrated pattern
- 50g organic cotton yarn
- 100% natural sheep’s wool stuffing
- blunt-tipped yarn needle
- gift tag up-cycled from cereal packets, greetings cards, etc
The pattern is worked with a 3.5mm (US size: E-4) crochet hook (or the size you need to make a compact crochet fabric with the given yarn). I offer lovely natural bamboo crochet hooks by Pony if you would like to try one.
When finished, the two pumpkins are 7cm (2¾ inches) and 9cm (3½ inches) in diameter.

The kit contents and packaging aims to be as eco-friendly as I can make it:
- box (dented) – 70% recycled, reusable and recyclable.
- ball bands, box labels – 100% recycled paper, recyclable.
- pattern – 100% recycled unbleached paper, recyclable.
- tissue – 100% recycled, recyclable.
- business cards, tags, etc – handmade from greeting cards, cereal packets, etc, recyclable.
The carded wool stuffing is a natural product. It is scoured and clean, but may still include the odd bit of straw or leaf.
