Pumpkin Crochet Kit – SECONDS

Bargain crochet kit to make two mini pumpkin ornaments in sustainable, eco-friendly materials.

This kit identical in every way to my full-price pumpkin crochet kit, except that:

The pattern is printed on unbleached paper

I accidentally printed one of my patterns on the paper I usually use only for receipts. This 100% recycled paper is unbleached, so has a noticeable greyish/beige colour with a rough feel. It may be less readable for those with visual impairments which is why I usually use a 100% recycled smooth, bright white paper for my patterns. Rather than putting this straight in the recycling, I’d much rather someone who didn’t mind had the use of it.

The box is dented

When I receive my boxes from my supplier, they arrive strapped tightly together. This means that the top and bottom few boxes usually have dents in them and I can’t use them for my kits. I use them for posting other things, but I still have more than I need. If you are buying a kit just for yourself, this imperfect box has no effect on the quality of the contents. It is also perfectly good enough for you to reuse yourself for posting/storage once you have finished the kit.

Offering this kit is a great way for me to reduce waste whilst offering you a saving!

The full contents of this crochet kit to make the pair of pumpkins is as follows:

• 15-page fully-illustrated pattern printed on unbleached recycled paper
• 50g+ organic cotton yarn
• 100% natural British sheep’s wool stuffing
• blunt-tipped yarn needle
• gift tag up-cycled from cereal packets, greetings cards, etc

The pattern is worked with a 3.5mm (US size: E-4) crochet hook (or the size you need to make a compact crochet fabric with the given yarn). I offer lovely natural bamboo crochet hooks by Pony if you would like to try one.

When finished, the two pumpkins are 7cm (2¾ inches) and 9cm (3½ inches) in diameter.

The kit contents and packaging aims to be as eco-friendly as I can make it:

• box (dented) – 70% recycled, reusable and recyclable.
• ball bands, box labels – 100% recycled paper, recyclable.
• pattern – 100% recycled unbleached paper, recyclable.
• tissue – 100% recycled, recyclable.
• business cards, tags, etc – handmade from greeting cards, cereal packets, etc, recyclable.

The carded wool stuffing is a natural product. It is scoured and clean, but may still include the odd bit of straw or leaf.
