Crocheted pumpkins in white and orange

Striped Pumpkin Crochet Pattern

Here’s the latest addition to my Pumpkin and Gourd Patterns Series of crochet pattens: Striped Pumpkin Crochet Pattern.

This pattern makes two versions of a two-toned striped pumpkin or sweet dumpling squash.

I most often make these in cream and orange, lemon and orange or mint and green, with the darker colour in the ‘furrows’ of the pumpkin.

Using DK (light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn and a 3.5mm (US size E-4) crochet hook these pumpkins are approximately 7cm in diameter. But you can choose a different weight yarn and appropriate hook to make larger or smaller pumpkins.

The pattern includes two variants, so that if you are making a collection they are not all the same.

These pumpkins love to mix with other pumpkins and gourds, so do check out the patterns in my growing range of pumpkin and gourd patterns to make a fun and beautiful autumn centrepiece.

The pattern is available in both UK and US terminology, and is fully-illustrated with colour photos. It’s an interesting project as the colour changes will keep you on your toes, and perhaps inspire you to ad-lib a little. I’d love any feedback you have on how I have notated the colour changes, by the way – I work hard to choose the clearest method of notation for any given pattern, and I know my methods differ from what you may see in magazines and books (often lamentably unclear, I think!)

Don’t forget you can order all my crochet patterns printed and gift-boxed, and these make lovely, easy-to-post gifts for crafty friends.

And of course you can still order my pumpkins and gourds readymade if you prefer.
