What’s in a Pomelo?

What is a pomelo“What are those?” asked E.
We’re walking through the local market on our weekly trip to the library, and passing a fruit and veg stall.
“Um… It says they are pomelos.”
“What’s a pomelo?”
I had definitely seen that coming. I briefly toy with the “it’s one of those” answer and continuing on our way. Part of me is anticipating the usual ‘kids not in school today?’ comment from someone if we stop. But I do stop and we look at them. (more…)

Okay you’re thinking that doesn’t sound quite as thrilling as Lego Week (that’s next week if I get all my ducks in a row), but it has turned out to be one of our more successful days, and I think I’ve got as much out of it as the kids.

Making Nightdresses

New pattern for some old friends

Crocheted Wash Mitt made to an original Little Conkers patternThose of you who’ve known Little Conkers for a while will recognize these little faces. But new today is that you can now use my pattern to make these simple toddler wash mitts for yourself!

I first designed and made these wash mitts for my own children when they were toddlers. Anyone with little children knows that normal flannels, sized for adults, are just too big for little hands to handle independently, and carry too much water, leading to lots of puddles on the bathroom floor. Kiddies’ Blankets

Crochet Granny Stripe BlanketI’m constantly crocheting, but my family have very little to show for it, and you wouldn’t know it to look at our home!

So this year, I’m trying to make a blanket for each of my children. The aim is to have all three ready for Christmas 2014, but even that might be a stretch!
